Video Did Not Kill The Radio Star: 16 Times I Wish I Had Video Proof

I am going to tell you something that might not surprise you. People don’t love to read. I would totally look at pretty pictures and funny videos if I could learn everything I needed to know by doing just that. Wouldn’t you? I am so ADD and OCD that sometimes I can’t even re-read my own blog posts. But, don’t tell anyone because that could be a bad look for someone who blogs full time. HA!
Anyway, watching a video is so much fun. I wish I had my camera on me for so many experiences I have had along the way. It would be even better if I had images or videos to accompany this post – but that is the purpose of this post. I need to record more. I take enough selfies so I have that covered but what I need to do more is record videos.

Melanysguydlines ROCK ON

Rock on! I need more videos!!

I just found myself looking at my YouTube channel and it is making me want to record something right now but I look like it is Saturday morning and I had a long week. I apologize for abandoning my YouTube channel but I am ready to make a comeback.

There is tons on my radar right now that deserves to be recorded. But, if I could turn back time (like Cher), there would have be so many cool events that I should have videos from but don’t (and in all fairness, I had no idea that social media would have become my profession at that time and I don’t think we had good cameras on our phones…lol).

A few experiences that would be funny to re-watch would have been:

-My 21 year old self walking Dave Matthews down the red carpet while working as an intern for MTV and assisting at the MTV Movie Awards. I had no idea what I was doing but I looked good – I think.

-How about the time I did Johnny Knoxville’s hair for a photo shoot while Steve-O did unmentionable things to himself in the background? Jackass.

MTV Jackass photo shoot

Well, here is one photo from that Jackass shoot!

-There was the time that I sat with Little Richard for about an hour discussing my future (and yes he wears just as much makeup in person but is the nicest man ever).

-Or that time that I drank a Waborita in Sammy Hagar’s dressing room while working the Van Halen/Shinedown tour. Can you believe I didn’t love Shinedown then? Damn, I am kicking myself now.

-Maybe hanging out with Wes from Puddle of Mudd at the Rainbow while listening to him tell me that he was going to buy a Ferris Wheel and put it in his front yard run by little people (I did a recap for you though).

-Filming a Kevin Farley film in my house when Eric Roberts yelled down the street that Julia was coming over.

-Maybe even that super weird conversation I had with Tom Sizemore that began with him asking me if we dated in the 80’s in which I told him “No” and that I would have been 12.

-When Travis Barker from Blink 182 and I were taking a break and he stole my lighter and promised to give it back but never did.

-The evening I spent with Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, and Hugh Grant while at a burlesque club in Hollywood. Funniest part of that night was when Hugh Grant had a bit too much to drink and asked, “Where is the pee-pee room?” uhh yeah, in those exact words.

-Sitting next to Benicio Del Toro and Al Pacino at my favorite breakfast spot in Hollywood. Benicio was wearing a blonde wig and wins for the worst disguise ever. Did he think the blonde wig matched something on him?

-Conan O’Brien walking down my street and asking mom and I to hang out.

-Joe Walsh from the Eagles having no idea where he was and needing my assistance while checking him in to see his manager.

-Being asked by Christina Aguilera’s husband (at that time) if I could put her on the guest list for Van Halen rehearsal. I think I could handle that.

-Eddie Van Halen trying to speak to me in what sounded like English but not sure. I still have no idea what the hell he was ever trying to say for the year and a half I worked on the Van Halen tour.

-Getting tickets from Sharon Osbourne for Ozzfest to have then ninja’d out of my hand by a guy who didn’t think anyone would notice that he was sitting in my seat instead of me.

-Partying with Chad Kroeger from Nickelback on his tour bus, while listening to Nickelback (who does that?) and watching him ride a mini –Ducati in leather pants. The highlight of that night was when I told him we had to leave and he screamed, “You can’t leave me, I’m a Rockstar” to which I responded, “Watch me”. #snarky

There are so many more….but, it is Saturday and I thought I would start there. One thing I know for sure, I will be recording more of my life because weird things are attracted to me like flies to shit.

Stay tuned…I feel something weird coming on.

recording my life because weird things are attracted to me like flies to shit

OOPS!

**Stay snarky my friends!**

Back in ’76 or ’77, I worked for a guy in Gardens, CA that had done work on the new(then) blimp hangar in Carson. He & his wife had taken rides on the blimp. At that time they were only given by invitation, like to Goodyear dealers, suppliers, etc. I thought that was neat & said so. About a week later, he called back to my work station & asked if I wanted to ride on the blimp! Well, Hell Yeah! A girl from the office & I took an hours ride, from Carson, over Santa Monica, back down the coast!

Well, you beat me there! I have never been on a blimp! Bucket list. Thanks for the comment.

I guess now you can buy a ride on the blimp. Like on a hot air balloon. What I remember, the seats were like plastic school bus seats and the sensation wasn’t like flying in a plane because the thing was so slow!!!

In ’94, my wife, then fiancé, had arranged a bus trip for her country dance class/club to go to Knoxville, TN & appear on CMT’s dance show, ‘The White Horse Saloon’. They didn’t use pro dancers, locals & people like us that made the trip. Anyway, we found the Little Log Wedding Chapel in Gatlinburg, about 50 mi from Knoxville & had our wedding there. Still in our wedding clothes, we went to film more TV shows. Stringer from Enquirer was there to do a human interest story on the locals, saw us, took our pic, misspelled my name. But our picture was in the National Enquirer!!!

I have a couple too from when I waitressed at a nightclub. The first was having my mom walk into the kitchen one morning, wearing her housecoat and fuzzy slippers and I was sitting having coffee with 4 Chippendale’s dancers. The second was having one of the Edmonton Oilers show up after the bar closed with the Stanley Cup and getting to drink Dom Perignon out of it.

AHA! I will take a Chippendale dancer! LOL. Did anyone stay behind?

They rented a place in the same complex we lived in, so they were over quite often. Movie nights, etc….
