I have been dealing with no AC in 118 degree weather and a 7 foot snake at my front door so thankfully Laura has this post for you all to read!
I will share more about my Arizona summer soon but enjoy these beauty hacks while I try and cool off!
In a bit of a rut with your look? Perhaps your current beauty routine is a little outdated, and instead of making you look younger you’re actually adding years to your age. Maybe you’ve had a busy few years bringing up children, and now it’s time to focus on yourself again you’re clueless about where to start. No need to fret, here are a few tips to help you look and feel like yourself again.
When It Comes To Makeup, Less is More
When you were a teenager and wanted to look older, what did you used to do? Pile on the makeup of course! When we get older, we do the same thing to look younger, but the original logic still stands, wearing a lot of makeup will make you look older. It’s all about finding the right products, colors and using the right techniques to suit your skin tone, type, and your features. Experiment with different products, or go to a beauty counter and have them do a look on you so you can see how things look. Using a lighter, dewier base will make your skin look fresher and more youthful. Avoid heavy liner which can make the eyes appear smaller, a touch of neutral eyeshadow and some mascara will give you a more wide- awake appearance. As we age, our brows can thin and look lighter, so some brow powder to define them can help bring back some structure to the face. Some blush on the cheeks to give you a natural glow, and a swipe of pink or nude lipstick will finish the look. You’ll look fresh and put together without looking like you’re trying really hard.
Focus on Good Quality Skincare
As we leave our twenties and approach our thirties and beyond, our skin’s needs change. It can become dryer meaning it’s more prone to aging and damage. Fine lines can start to appear, and it can generally look less plump and youthful. While there is no fountain of youth, looking after your skin will prevent premature aging, and you will look your best for years to come. Great skin also gives you the best blank canvas to apply makeup too, so it’s win-win. Hyaluronic acid serum helps to deeply hydrate and nourish, helping to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles. An eye cream will hydrate and protect the delicate eye area which is particularly prone to the signs of aging. Regular face masks will help to pamper and care for your skin’s various needs. Pick up a selection targeted towards different things, so you always have one on hand.
Consider a Complete Change With Your Hair
Have you been wearing your hair the same way since college? A style and color which looked good on us in the past won’t necessarily look good now. Extreme styles and colors (such as jet black or platinum blonde) can accentuate sallowing skin or signs of aging. If you’ve lost or gained a lot of weight, your very short or very long hair might not be doing you any favors. Perhaps you don’t do anything to it at all and are in a bit of a rut. Changing your style and color can work absolute wonders, choose well and you will look younger, more attractive and feel more confident too. Aim to choose a hair color that’s within two shades of your natural locks since this will suit you best. Consider a new length, or having bangs cut in. Your hairdresser will be able to recommend a cut and color based on your face shape and skin tone.
