You don’t have to spend a lot of money to celebrate any holiday! Valentine’s Day is no different. Check out some great suggestions from Laura on how to make your Valentine’s Day special while on a budget!

Valentine’s day should be all about showing your partner just how much they mean to you. But if your bank balance is still recovering from the holidays, you may be concerned that it won’t be particularly special this year. Expensive gifts and dining at fancy restaurants may be what is traditionally expected on this day. But these are not always the best way to show how much you care. Plan a fun date night

Valentine’s day may be considered the most romantic day of the year. But that doesn’t mean you have to be romantic. Some people find the idea of being romantic awkward and pressurising. So why not plan a fun date night you can both look forward to. These nights often feel more relaxed and can bring you closer together. Think of things you and your partner have never tried out before to maximise the fun factor. You could look for discounted nfr tickets online, head to a bowling alley or sightseeing in your local area. This will take the romantic pressure off and be much kinder to your budget. You could organise it in the coming months to give you more time to save money if you prefer. It might be a simple idea, but having fun together is something all couples should make time for.

Make the card yourself

It’s likely you’ve already seen Valentine’s day cards being displayed and sold in stores and online. Why not add more sentiment to your card this year and make your own. Handmade items are often treasured more than ones that are bought from a store. Plus the possibilities in card making are endless. You could print out a favourite picture of you both or draw a portrait of your partner. You could fingerpaint or use sequins to create a simple heart design. You could even create a flipbook or collage their face onto an image of a fictional character. All you need is a simple piece of card and some creativity to get you started. Just remember that you need to have enough space to write a message to your partner.

Bake your gift

Baking is a fantastic way of showing someone that you care, so why not bake something special. You could bake cupcakes, cookies or an entire cake. You could make them heart shaped or something personal to your partner. For instance, if he likes motorsports, you could create car shaped baked goods for some added personality. Use icing or decorations to write personal messages onto each of the items. It could just be a simple ‘I love you’ or you could write both of your initials. You can create this gift with items you already have in your kitchen to save yourself some pennies.

Your Valentine’s day will be one to remember with these suggestions to help you. It’s not far away so start planning now and show your partner how much you love and care for them in a personal and special way.
