I wake up this morning and am super pissed that I don’t have a Master Card in my wallet. Actually, I am also a little irritated with my wallet staying out all weekend at a friend’s house. I left my wallet there on Thursday and have been confined to the house and sustaining on left over Halloween candy since I have no MONEY to buy any food.
It is ok but I am going to be pissed if I can’t fit into my outfit for tonight. Oh that is right? A pair of tickets to the Grammys, preshow and after party were mine………..only if I had a MasterCard. MasterCard has a program called “Priceless” where they surprise people in different cities with “Priceless” experiences like going to the Grammys! Well, I followed this account on Twitter and got the DM about the tickets but when asked my credit card number I did not have a valid account! I told them I would sign up. They said no and I cried (not really but almost felt moisture coming out of my peepers). Oh well, we always have next year’s Grammys and MasterCard?? You better make sure Metallica plays next year too or we are going to have a serious score to settle.
Since I have been a little girl I have LOVED watching all music awards shows. It is too bad they are not what they used to be with a huge element missing. What is that? GOOD ROCK N’ ROLL! Bring it back! PLEASE!
Most of you know that I got my first internship/job in the music business and literally bleed rock and roll! But, a fun little story about an awards show is when I worked at MTV during my last semester of college at the University of Arizona (I also bleed red and blue for my Cats). I worked at MTV Networks during the time of the Jackass boys and the coolest part of my job was on the 5th day we were asked to work the MTV Video Music Awards. UMMMM YES! Now, what does a little blonde wear to work her first music awards show? A crop black shirt, skirt, and 5-inch heels! Right? Well, that was all good strutting my 21 year old ass’s stuff until the next day when I could not actually stand on my feet.
Picture it! I am waiting for my turn to assist the Press department and our job was to walk the celebrities down the red carpet. If you are old enough to remember, Gavin Rossdale was in a huge band back then called Bush. When it was his turn to walk down that red carpet, my boss screamed at me to get it and walk with him. Upon my stupid hesitation, shock and a little bit of “awwe” I missed my chance and had to wait my turn for the next celeb to arrive in their limo. As I waited patiently with sweat dripping down my forehead (its LA people and it never rains), and hoped for someone a little more musical than Johnny Knoxville, I heard my name called again. This time – batter up. Guess who jumped out of that long stretch limo? DAVE MATTHEWS and the band! “Hi Dave” and he asks my name. I told him I was “Melany” and it was finally my turn to walk the red carpet……and the rest is history
(including the fact that he was the only band to play the event and get asked to leave early after trashing the dressing room but who cares? He is Dave Matthews).
Melanysguydlines # 61 When Hollywood says jump, you say “how high?” with a big fat smile on your face. Sink or swim. Swim. What are you going to do?
**Stay snarky my friends!**
Too cute. I l wish I could go. You had some fun experiences. Do you have a lot of autographs?
You crack me up.
HA – thanks!
i was trying to win some of these as well and was following them and tweeting them for the past couple of weeks but never got that DM. Did you have to do anything special to win these tickets. I have a mastercard and would have loved to go!!!
Nope! They chose at random – I was chosen but sadly had no mastercard 🙁
next time let me know and we can work something out!
Totally! How are those Beats??
How does one trash a room you’re in for less than an hour? Did they really ask them to leave early? I thought you were supposed to bite your lip, smile and call the janitor!
It takes a lot of talent! Let me tell ya!
you are so hilarious! and Dave Matthews band??? how cool that you got to “meet” him! But, trashing the room after an hour? wow…that DOES take some talent!
Yep! It was a crazy night!
My hubby and one teen loves Dave Matthews Band! Loved reading your adventure – makes my life seem so boring 🙂 haha
HA! Yes – one crazy day and night.
