George Michael And Prince Tribute On The Grammy Awards®

I just received a press release about the Grammy Awards and thought I would pass along the information entitled: “TRIBUTES SET FOR MUSIC ICONS GEORGE MICHAEL AND PRINCE ON THE 59TH ANNUAL GRAMMY AWARDS® “. As Metallica sings, this is “Sad But True” with so many music legends lost this past year. This tribute sounds like something not to miss honoring some of my favorite musical icons and it will truly be unforgettable.

I am listening to Prince and George Michael as I write this blog post. Legends lost but I am so happy I saw both of these performers live with my favorite person. I rocked out and have very fond memories that I can keep with me forever. Gone way too soon.

This is a program from a Prince concert I attended and my original cassette tape of George Michael’s Faith from my personal collection. Thought I would share with you.

Prince and George Michael Grammys

Originals!

If you missed it, yesterday I shared on social media the duet for the Grammy’s with Lady GaGa and Metallica. Nobody loves Metallica more than me but not sure about this duet. I like my GaGa plain and my Metallica hard. We will see?

BONUS: I do enjoy carpool karaoke and think James Corden will be an entertaining host. Will you tune in this year? What are you most looking forward to?

Press release below:

Music’s Biggest Night® — Hosted By James Corden — Airs Live On CBS, Feb. 12, 2017

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (Feb. 8, 2017) — The Recording Academy® has announced plans to honor two-time GRAMMY® winner George Michael and seven-time GRAMMY winner Prince with two unforgettable tribute segments on the 59th Annual GRAMMY Awards®. While specific details for the tribute performances, including who will participate in each, remain under wraps, previously announced performers include Adele, Kelsea Ballerini, William Bell, Chance The Rapper, Gary Clark Jr., Daft Punk, Andra Day, Cynthia Erivo, Tori Kelly, Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, John Legend, Little Big Town, Demi Lovato, Lukas Graham, Bruno Mars, Metallica, Maren Morris, Anderson .Paak, Katy Perry, Sturgill Simpson, A Tribe Called Quest, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, and The Weeknd. Taking place at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, the 59th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be broadcast live in HDTV and 5.1 surround sound on the CBS Television Network, Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. Award-winning television personality and performer James Corden will serve as host for the first time.

“George Michael and Prince were pop icons who showcased rare musical genius and otherworldly charisma,” said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy. “While each possessed a distinct style and sound, they were both adored by audiences worldwide. The passings of two such creative innovators were a huge loss for the creative community; The Recording Academy is humbled to pay homage to their tremendous legacies on the GRAMMY stage.”

“While the primary focus of the GRAMMY Awards is to celebrate and honor the year’s best in music, we consider it our responsibility to tell music’s broader story by honoring its legends lost—that’s what we strive to achieve with our annual tributes,” said Ken Ehrlich, Executive Producer of the GRAMMY Awards. “While it’s nearly impossible to convey the full depth of an artist’s cultural impact in a single performance, it’s that very challenge that has led us to some of our most memorable GRAMMY moments.”

The 59th Annual GRAMMY Awards are produced by AEG Ehrlich Ventures for The Recording Academy. Ken Ehrlich is executive producer, Louis J. Horvitz is director, Ben Winston is a producer, and David Wild and Ehrlich are the writers.

It brings back such fond memories. I hope they don’t ruin it. It would be an insult to their memory as well as their amazing talent
