“Thank You” Sevendust’s Lajon Witherspoon For Talking New Album & Tour With Me

By now, we all know that I am a rocker and in my past life I worked in the music business doing marketing for rock bands. I bleed rock n’ roll. Music is truly the soundtrack of our lives and I remember every concert I have been to, what song was playing in good times and bad. It has helped me through tough times and is always there for me when I need it.

So, when I had the opportunity to meet Lajon Witherspoon from Sevendust I hopped on a plane and took a flight to Los Angeles. I was fortunate to meet him and his lovely family for dinner at STK in West Hollywood. Thanks to my dear friend Matt Berman for introducing us. Matt directed the Wedding Pact with Haylie Duff, Model Citizen with Angie Everhart and many more great films. Berman is also very good friends with Lajon and his family and was directing a PSA on bullying with Ashley Witherspoon and their daughter Jada.

“Thank you”

My history with Sevendust goes way back. I have seen the band grow and develop over the years from that first time to the rocking powerhouse they are today….and I remember it so clearly. Ozzfest at it’s best! Lajon has the ability to growl with the best of them AND can carry a tune that most lead singers can’t do today.

His passion and true emotion is infectious and undeniable while always maintaining Sevendust’s signature heavy sound and still showcasing Lajon’s melodic abilities.

Rock on!

Time Travelers and Bonfires was the last album from the band and showcased a different side of the band by stripping down to acoustic-based sound while still giving me the chance to bang my head and throw my Dio horns in the air. I once saw the tour at the soon to be closing House of Blues on the Sunset strip (sad face) and can easily say that the show is in my top 5 concerts of all time. They rock but Lajon stands out with his true emotion and ability to burn the vocals in your heart and your mind. He feels the music and the audience feels him. It was incredible.

Our dinner was lovely and I am so appreciative to have met him and his family. They are so down to earth and he is truly the nicest rockstar I have met to date. I wish I could go back and do it all over again. But, I have amazing news for all your rockers out there. If you haven’t heard, Sevendust is joining my other favorite band Godsmack for a tour!

Plus, they are picking up some other dates with Shinedown and Breaking Benjamin along the way! This is the best news I have heard in a very long time. Trust me, I will be at the shows rocking out, singing with Lajon and feeling his energy.

In addition to the tour with Godsmack, Sevendust just released their first single of the new album. It is appropriately called “Thank you” and I want to thank Lajon and his family for taking the time to get up close and personal with me. Go buy it, bang your head to it, pre-order the album and thank me later. It is on Itunes and Spotify now.

Rock it out!

The new album is set to drop on October 2nd but you can pre-order that now too. It is called “Kill the Flaw” and I know it is going to be playing on repeat on my Itunes every single day.

BTW, they have already released the East Coast dates of the tour with Godsmack but I am on the West Coast and am eagerly waiting for those dates to be revealed. Waiting…waiting and waiting….. The Wait (GREAT SONG).

Go and get it! Thank me later.

**Stay snarky my friends!**

Great post!!! I love the photos you included. They help the reader connect on a personal and emotional level. While I’m not familiar with Sevendust I have heard of Godsmack. Someone once said the record business is bad but the music business is booming. I think you eloquently captured the sentiment here. Good music will always endure and knows no boundaries. 🙂
