Snarky Picks For Super Bowl Weekend 2015 in Scottsdale, Arizona

snarky picks for super bowl in scottsdale, az

As most of you know, I am a University of Arizona #Wildcatforlife, travel way too much for work on the West Coast but have just relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona which just happens to be the home for the Super Bowl this year a.k.a deflategate! Even though my 49ers did not have the greatest showing 2014/2015 and I hate Levi’s stadium, I am still a huge fan and love anything football (basketball and baseball) related. Plus, I have been known to know “where the party is at”, love my Grey Goose libations, awesome taste in music, food and fashion (if I do say so myself)! With all that mentioned, I thought it would only be fitting for me to give you a few suggestions for what to do if you happen to find yourself in the valley this weekend for the big game! It truly is breathtaking! Come join me!

HOTEL:
Hotel Valley Ho: This is my favorite hotel for so many reasons! The location rocks. In Old Town Scottsdale is where everything is happening from the bars, clubs, shopping and best restaurants. It is not stuffy like some of the other huge resorts in the area and all you have to do is hop on a golf cart and get to anywhere you want to be.

RIDES:
Golf Carts aka Trips for Tips. This is how you should get around. Do not drink and drive! I am warning you. It is the wild west here after all and Sheriff Arpaio doesn’t mess around with drinking and driving. Thankfully, there is Trips for Tips and a variety of other golf cart companies schlepping people from restaurant to bar and back again.

SPAS:
Fairmont Scottsdale Princess: If you are going to treat yourself to one spa around here it has to be at the Princess. They have the most amazing facility. It is insane. Everything from taking aerial lessons to sitting in a co-ed waterfall that massages your back like nobodies business.

Sanctuary on Camelback: GORGEOUS! The view is to die for and so are the spa amenities. The food rocks too!

Golf Cart please!

Montelucia Spa: Breathtaking. Plus, they have an enormous crystal that you can have a moment with to take away all of the stress from your daily life!

HAIR:

Ask for Jenna at Saints and Scissors and she will hook you up with whatever you need.

NAILS:

Ask for Jaimie at Teres Nail Bar

SPORT: (other than the Super bowl obviously)

The Waste Management Phoenix Open is happening here and it is an insane party. Listen, I am way more football than gold but this tourney is a blast. It is a huge party on the green aka #greenestshow and not to disappoint. Food, beverage and golf but don’t let the golf fool ya. Dress to impress but remember it is on turf and dirt so leave the stilettos at home. The rain here is throwing a little bit of a curve ball today but I heard Tiger Woods still tee’d off on time.

Fan Fest put on by Cox Communication (my favorite as you know I do some pretty cool work with them). Remember this is the same company that sent me to Las Vegas for the UFC fight last year and when I took this pic? I can see Fan Fest from my bedroom window. ESPN and Extra are broadcasting from the corner of this fest along with all the live music, entertainment, food and drink one could ever wish for while on vacay.

SHOP:
Fashion Square Mall has one of the best Nordstroms and Neiman Marcus stores I have been too. Word on the street is that I have a bit of a shopping problem so trust me. Go.

FOOD: (I could go on forever in this category but here are a few of of my favs)

Breakfast Club: – It is the most important meal of the day and their mimosas are off the hook.

Kelly’s At South Bridge – Teddy Brewski is a fan of this sports bar. Not only are they dog friendly but the food and atmosphere rocks you from day until night.

Olive & Ivy – Super popular and I know why. They have a huge patio, which makes enjoying the Waterfront and surrounding area heaven. You must have the hummus and Med salad here.

The Henry –A little further from old town but definitely worth the ride. The drinks rock and the food is delicious. Has an old speak easy type feel but not. If that makes sense?

Pink Pony – The history at this steakhouse is undeniable even though it was recently re-modeled. Love that this is a favorite amongst baseball players who come to Phoenix for Spring Training.

Cowboy Ciao – Don’t let the name full you. The dishes are a little different but the food is divine.

The Mission – Looks just like a mission and is next to one. Hard to get in so make a ressie but some of the best Latin/Mexican food I have had. Love the ambiance as well.

Nightlife:

Rock on!

Rock on!

Rock Bar: – I am a rocker and by the name you can tell there is no shortage of that here.

Blur – I went there this past weekend and danced to Mix Master Jay from my all time favs – the BEASTIE BOYS! They are not holding back for the Super Bowl with a jam-packed line up of performers you will not want to miss.

What a line up!

Live Wire:– Motely Crue anyone? Named after one of my favorite bands. Cool new live music venue!

W Hotel: The pool is gorgeous and word on the street is that they have some of the best talent this weekend.

Dierks Bentley Whiskey Row: I am a rocker but this country bar is not to miss. Cool set up.

HiFi – Another pretty cool bar that has a wall full of amps that is pretty darn cool to look at and the waitresses are easy on the eyes (as most of the venues in old town).

If you have extra time, drive down to Tucson and see why the UOFA has the best alumni ever. It is my Alma mater and I am a proud member of the Advisory Board. Arizona has amazing landscape and the drive is not exciting from Phoenix to Tucson but I promise once you get to Wildcat country you will not be disappointed and it will be obvious why I am a Wildcats for life.
