Money Date in Vegas – Valentines Day

Here is a little piece I wrote for Travelvegas.com. Now, these are what I call great Valentines Dates! HELLO – YOU! Are you ready to be my Valentine this year? Come on! I don’t always bite (only unless you ask). These dates will get you where you want to go. Trust me and take notes! I am accepting applications now. GO! (Hopefully it will not take me that long to get a GREAT date). I know you are out there. (If you are not, I am sure 5 dumb people will give me plenty of reasons and/or dirty pictures for me to write why Valentine’s Day is the WORST holiday of the year). Please don’t let cupid hit the wrong guy this year! I have been a very good girl.

Las Vegas. I am still a little upset with Las Vegas after the Super Bowl game but that is a sore subject. I did not win betting on that sporting event. Sore subject. No worries for me because the PAC 12 tourney and March Madness are on the horizon and I am going to win my money back. I am.

Anyway, before we actually get to March, we need to get through February and Valentines Day. Las Vegas is a romantic city. No, it is! Where else can you travel from Rome at Caesars Palace to the Palazzo in Italy and to Paris all in the same day without every getting on a plane and still have time for a delicious dinner and a show? You can do it ALL in Las Vegas and all you need is a few bucks for a cab ride (and a date helps too).

There are so many choices for a romantic getaway it is hard to narrow it down. My ideal weekend would start with a trip to The Forum shops at Caesars Palace and the Crystals mall at City Center. I can buy anything my little heart desires from jewelry, designer clothes, handbags and shoes. The options are endless. I like them all. Are you taking notes my future Valentine? Oh, don’t forget to stop by Jean Phillippe Patisserie at the Aria for my favorite chocolates before you pick me up!

After my exhausting shopping experience my sweetheart and I can visit the Canyon Ranch at the Venetian where we can enjoy amazing massages and facials to relax and beautify ourselves for the evening. You might want to choose Qua Bath and Spa in Caesars to pamper yourself because this spa is a pure slice of heaven (or, Rome). If you don’t feel like going to the spa, the spa can come to us. At most hotels you can request a couples massage in our own room!

Now that we are relaxed, beautiful and starving the options are endless for romantic restaurants. Some of the most romantic on the strip are the Eiffel Tower at Paris where the views are breathtaking and Alize on the 54th floor of the Palms. If you don’t like heights, and you want to actually eat a steak and skip the little portioned controlled French food then, I suggest we go to Stripsteak at Mandalay Bay. Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse is always a treat. It is not in a hotel but definitely worth the cab ride to 3925 Paradise Road.

If, in reality, you are like me and the only Valentine you have is furry, walks on all fours, and not allowed in restaurants, might I suggest the Thunder From Down Under show at the Excalibur. Hopefully you can pick up one of those blokes and stop by the The Little White Wedding chapel (where Britney and Elvis got married) to secure your date for next year (make sure it lasts longer than Britney’s marriage did or you will be out of luck!)

Melany’s Guydlines #34 – If you want a Valentine, you need to secure a date first(not named something like Teddy Brewski, Fluffy, or Snoopy). Good luck – you will need it in Vegas.
