I am dating my blog

There are people who blog like scrapbooking and people who are working their ass off to TRY and make a living doing it. I never knew that you could make a living from blogging and started with Melanysguydlines.com as a creative and cathartic outlet. But, I really needed a job and guys, I have to make a living and Teddy is hungry. It is not as easy as you think. People ask me what I am doing and trust me – I am working 19+ hour days. I wake up to Melanysguydlines at 5:30 AM, we eat breakfast, shower, shit, shave, lunch, dinner, and dessert together. I cheat on her for a few hours around 10:00PM and sleep until 2:30AM where we have an early morning rendezvous, then I bid adieu for a few hours to sleep a little more and do it all again. This project has become much bigger than I ever thought –probably than you ever thought too. What a ride so far.

Yeah? Read the blog!

Yeah? Read the blog!

But, I am doing something I love and it is super challenging and rewarding at the same time.

Here is a little friendly advice from the question I get asked the most after what are you doing (usually with some type of condescending tone when they know I am blogging) is, how do you make money doing it? Well, let me tell you, it is HARD and I am not rolling in the dough YET. I am learning and making mistakes along the way. But, I can tell you that I have researched the monetization of blogging to the n’th degree. Advertisers somehow decide if you and your blog are the right fit for their product (by using a weird algorithm or some complicated theory that I don’t understand). Thank you to my advertisers!

But, why monetize the site you ask? It’s obvious because I need to try and feed my Teddy Brewski. You have to apply and be accepted to certain marketing affiliates so I applied to the BEST. Nothing but the BEST here. I will not clutter this site with lame ads about things I don’t like or use. I will never OK an ad for something just because the monetary return is larger than something I really love. For example, I am a total product whore so I would never tell you to use a lotion that smells like ass. How I chose the placement of my ads is because we can always use a little Nordstroms in our lives – women and men shop there. You know how I feel about music and sports so Sirius was a perfect fit. I love my makeup and will offer makeup application tips to the poor souls who don’t know anything about the topic like the girls that work at the Mac stores (there are quite a few of you – no names, never).

Upon doing research on monetizing blogs, I decided to google the blog and myself. A lot of stuff comes up (some of it a little creepy and the past listings of my life from conception, through college, and after is scary). But, there was one fantastic hater that wrote about me on another blog under a pseudonym.

Be nice or I will blog about you!

Or at least criticize me to my face/blog using your real name.

The idiot had nothing to say but did include a direct link to one of the most popular posts here. Thanks for the advertising! All press is good press. So, instead of posting that comment on another blog where I can’t see it, why don’t you come right here so we can all see it? For this reason is why I cleverly decided to place my Go Daddy advertisement on the bottom of this page. If you read through this post and think you can do it better than me then take advantage of the Go Daddy link I placed at the bottom of this page. It will make it easy on you. Go ahead! Press it and take a stab at blogging.

Melany’s Guydline #42 – Blogging isn’t as easy as it looks and if it was everyone would be doing it  (but if you want to register and try, I support you by placing my Go Daddy ad by your clicking finger so that when you sign up I can take a profit from your failed attempt). Good luck!

Gosh, never thought about how much you have to put into it. Feeding teddy is important. Nordstrom is my favorite store. Too bad they don’t sell dog food. (Ha,ha). But, I do love their shoes. Promise to click just so you can continue entertaining me.
